Project Team Training

It is critical that the project team is working collaboratively and that everyone is on the same page.  The Project Success MethodologySM provides companies with a standard methodology that is proven and practical, but what about some of the more advanced aspects of project management and delivery?

Once the Project Success MethodologySM is in place, we can address broader issues likely present within enterprise.  For example, issues related to executive commitment, resource planning, budgeting, reporting and project software utilization might be present.  Project Success is a uniquely qualified “third-party” with expert facilitators experienced in engaging the appropriate audience – whether project managers, members of project teams, sponsors of projects, key project contributors, project management office (PMO) staff, and/or executives.

  • Project Success MethodSM Executive Overview – This overview prepares executives: (a) to support the organizational commitment to disciplined application of a structured project management methodology and (b) to participate effectively in the role of project customer or project sponsor. Normally 1-4 hours, the scope, depth, and duration of the presentation can be tailored to the needs of the audience.
  • Resource Planning and Budgeting with Microsoft Project – This hands-on course presents a comprehensive approach to resource planning that is especially applicable when multiple projects of different priorities compete for the same personnel and other resources. The course also shows how to develop an activity-based project budget that can be cross-classified with standard cost categories, project phases or deliverables, team members, and functional groups. Cash flow analysis is also presented. A set of advanced proprietary add-on utilities is provided in CD form to each participant.
  • Control Methods & Practices with Microsoft Project – This hands-on course presents methods for controlling the performance of projects characterized by complexity and dynamic change. Topics include tracking progress and using advanced techniques for updating the project schedule, tracking actual resource usage and costs, analyzing budget variances, project control metrics, and alternative approaches to communication and data collection in the control process. A set of advanced proprietary add-on utilities is provided in CD form to each participant.
  • Facilitating the Development & Control of Achievable Project Plans – This course presents proven techniques and skills required to prepare for and conduct successful project chartering, planning, and control sessions. The course explicitly recognizes the typical diversity of project teams and the potential for contentiousness in project meetings. Exercises give each participant an opportunity to facilitate and receive feedback from the instructor and fellow participants.

Some or all of these would likely be a part of a Project Success Enterprise engagement.
